• Fairness: This is WAY above the cost of adhesives for an Audi, whether OEM or quality aftermarket. Your research says even full dealer kits are $160 or less, and general adhesives start at $36. A $400 charge for glue is out of the ordinary, unless it’s some specialty chemical—which for a windshield or glass job on an Audi, it almost never is.
• Upsell check: This looks like a significant markup or an add-on with no justification. If they claim it’s required for safety or warranty, ask for the exact brand and part number. You could easily buy even high-end products for a quarter of the price. I’d push back or get a second opinion here, or even buy the adhesive yourself if possible.

6. NVB Glass: $960.13

• Fairness: Aftermarket or OEM windshield/glass prices vary a lot, but $900–1,200 isn’t shocking for an Audi A5. If this includes installation and glass, it’s reasonable for a high-line car. Dealer glass is often in this range.
• Upsell check: This isn’t a “padding” item—glass is expensive, especially for European cars. Just confirm it’s the right part (OEM or equivalent) and not “used” or reconditioned unless you prefer that.

Big Picture

• Total Pricing: $1,501.45 is not surprising if you’re getting high-quality glass and full installation at a dealership or upscale independent shop—but the $400 glue is questionable.
• Upsells present: The XL Glue is where you are probably being upsold, sometimes massively so. The Cleaner is a little high but not outlandish.
• Normal charges: The other materials/labor are typical for this kind of repair.
• DIY/independent option: You'd save hundreds by sourcing the adhesive yourself and using a trusted independent shop—especially if they're charging $75–$100/hr instead of the $200/hr dealer rate.

Bottom line: Most of this is normal shop markup except that $400 glue—it just doesn’t add up. If you need to, print out your research and bring it in. Most honest shops will at least try to justify or adjust when you politely call out a 300% markup.
